A furnace sized for this house, not the last one.
Most furnaces we replace are bigger than the house needs, because the last installer matched the old one. We measure.
Replacement prices.
Prices include a Manual J load calculation, removal of the old furnace, PVC venting, a new thermostat and the permit. Chimney liner work for leftover water heaters is quoted separately.
When a repair makes sense
Igniters, flame sensors, pressure switches, inducer motors and control boards are all repairable, and on a furnace under fifteen years old they almost always should be repaired.
When it doesn’t
A cracked heat exchanger can leak exhaust into the air you breathe, and it can’t be safely patched. If we find one, we’ll show you the crack with a camera and shut the furnace down, and we’ll get you heat that night with a loaner space heater while a new one is arranged.
