Plants that like it here.
A planting plan for Nashville has to survive clay, shade from big hardwoods, and an August that can go weeks without rain. We plant for that, and warranty it.
What we plant.
Under the oaks
Oakleaf hydrangea, native ferns, wild ginger, sedges. Plants that evolved under hardwoods.
Tough and beautiful
Coneflower, little bluestem, aromatic aster, black-eyed Susan. They handle clay and drought once established.
Through the winter
Boxwood where it suits the house, native hollies, serviceberry and redbud for spring.
Soil first
We test the soil on every planting project. Clay is fertile, but compacted clay drowns roots in spring and bakes them in summer. Amending the beds properly is the difference between a garden and a replacement order.
The warranty
Plants we install are warrantied through the first full growing season, on the condition that they’re watered as the plan specifies. We include irrigation in most plans for exactly that reason.
