Square feet is a guess.
Two 1,800-square-foot houses on the same street can need different-sized systems. The one with west-facing glass and an unshaded roof needs more. We measure.
How we size it.
- 01
Measure the house
Every room’s dimensions, windows and which way they face, ceiling heights and attic insulation.
- 02
Run the load
Software applies Manual J, the industry method, using Mesa’s design temperature.
- 03
Check the ducts
A system can only deliver what the ducts can carry. We measure static pressure.
- 04
Match equipment
We pick the size that covers the hottest design day without short-cycling the rest of the summer.
Why bigger isn’t better
An oversized system cools the air quickly and shuts off before it has removed much humidity. During monsoon that leaves the house cool but sticky. It also starts and stops more often, which wears the compressor faster. The right size runs longer, steadier and quieter.
