Steam heat, done the old way.
Half the boilers we service are older than the people who own them. Most of them have years left, if somebody cleans them and sets them up right.
Heating work.
Tune-ups are flat-priced because they’re the same every time. Repairs are hourly at $145 after the $95 trip.
Why we size boilers by the radiators
A steam boiler has to fill every radiator in the house with steam, so the right size comes from adding up the radiators, not from the square footage of the house. Size it by square footage and you usually get a boiler that’s too big, short-cycles and wastes gas.
We measure every radiator, look up its rating, and size from that. It takes an extra hour. It’s the reason our replacements run quieter than the one they replaced.
No heat at night
Call the shop line any hour from October to April. After-hours calls are an extra $95 on top of the trip, and we’ll tell you that before we drive over.
Asked about heat.
How often should a steam boiler be serviced?
Once a year, before the heating season. We start tune-ups in August so nobody waits in October.
Why is one end of my house cold?
On steam systems it’s usually a clogged or undersized main vent, or radiators pitched the wrong way. Both are fixable in an afternoon.
Book the tune-up before it’s cold.
August through October, $229 flat.
